The goal for this project was to create a community for motorsports enthusiasts. By using the app users were able to compete with each other on real-life racing tracks using the build-in lap timer and compare their track results with each other.
All tracks were configurable through a custom-built backend. Furthermore, administrators could add checkpoints/gates to tracks so that the lap timer would measure section results. Certain features were only available to pro users – the upgrade was available through In-App-Purchase.
One of the more advanced features was a live tracking functionality that allowed users to broadcast their current position through a web socket connection to the server, which would then display and update the car’s current position in realtime on a website.
